Downtown’s Hoppin’! is from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. March 22. Downtown Snoqualmie local businesses, City of Snoqualmie offices, and Snoqualmie Tribe offices welcome families to the Downtown’s Hoppin’ Spring Open House. Bring your Easter baskets to businesses with balloons displayed in their doorways to get toys, treats, and balloons.

Recreation

Snoqualmie Valley Little League (SVLL) and the FirstSwing Foundation will conduct a pre-season player clinic/workout session on March 22 and 23 at North Bend Elementary School, 400 East Third Street:

  • March 22 – 9 a.m. – noon (8 years old & younger) from 1-4 p.m.
  • March 23 – 9 a.m. -noon (8 years old & younger) and from 1-4 p.m. (9 years old & up)

Instructional soccer school for ages 2-12 is offered once a week from April 2 through May 21 at Azalea Park on Snoqualmie Ridge. This program is presented by the City of Snoqualmie Parks and Recreation Department and Kidz Love Soccer. The eight-week program costs $60. Call 831-5784.

Classes

Living with Bears is at 7 p.m. March 21 at Meadowbrook Farm Interpretive Center, 1711 Boalch Ave. S.E. in North Bend. Join July Hopkins, wildlife biologist, to learn black bear and grizzly biology and behavior, bear signs, and bear safety in the woods. Time for questions included! Families welcome. Free.

Spanish classes are held every Thursday, 3:30-4:30 p.m. at the Sno-Valley Senior Center. Open to the community. $5 per class, drop-in basis, taught by Celide Rivero.

Volunteer Opportunities

Join Seattle Public Utilities’ Botanist Clay Antieau from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 12 for a botanical survey at the municipal watershed in North Bend. Venture into the protected watershed to collect, identify and press scientific specimens to be deposited permanently at the University of Washington Herbarium.

Join a day of tree planting with the Cedar River Watershed Education Center from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 19 at Rattlesnake Lake in North Bend. Volunteers will remove weeds and replace them with trees, before taking a guided walking tour of the Cedar Falls townsite inside the protected municipal watershed.

Adopt-A-Park with your family, neighbors or club. Adopt-A-Park is a volunteer program for Snoqualmie residents. A park can be adopted by an individual or a group which helps improve and enhance public parks and trails. Volunteering requires an application and a one-year commitment. Call 831-5784.

North Bend Community Church will hold a Sunrise Service at 6:30 a.m. Sunday at Snoqualmie Valley Hospital. Refreshments will be provided in the hospital lobby.

North Bend Library

Snoqualmie Valley Chess Club, for adults, children and families, meets at 7 p.m. Thursdays.

Game On, for ages 12 to 18, meets 3- 5 p.m. Fridays to play XBox 360, Playstation, Nintendo DS, Guitar Hero and DDS. Board games also are available.

English as a Second Language classes meet at 6:30 p.m. Mondays.

Toddler Story Time, for ages 2 to 3 with an adult, meets at 9:30 a.m. Tuesdays.

Meet the Artist: M. Alice Legrow at 3 p.m. March 27. Legrow is a freelance artist and creator of TOKYOPOP’S successful and graphic novel series Bizenghast. (For teens and adults.)

Study Zone, for students in grades kindergarten through 12th, is at 3 p.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays and 4 p.m. Thursdays.

Young Toddler Story Time, for age 12 to 24 months with an adult, is at 9:30 a.m. Wednesdays.

Anime & Manga Club, for middle and high school students, meets at 3 p.m. Wednesdays to watch anime movies, eat popcorn and practice manga drawing.

Mount Si Senior Center

Film and Seminar: Logging in the Snoqualmie Valley with Dave Battey is at 10 a.m. March 27. View a 40-minute film of an actual working logging camp provided by the Snoqualmie Valley Historical Society with discussion to follow. Free.

Artist Open Studio is 1-3 p.m. every Monday. Bring your own project to work on.

Bingo is 9 a.m. to noon every Tuesday and Friday. Nickel a game! Free coffee.

Clubs

Rotary Club of Snoqualmie meets at 7 p.m. every Thursday at the Snoqualmie Ridge Golf Club.

Snoqualmie Valley Kiwanis Club meets at 7 a.m. every Thursday at the Mount Si Golf Course restaurant in Snoqualmie.

Snoqualmie Fraternal Order of Eagles’s Women’s Auxiliary meets the first and third Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. The Men’s Aerie meets the first and third Wednesday at 7 p.m. Meetings are held at 108 Railroad Ave. Call 888-1129.

The Snoqualmie Valley Youth Hub provides cultural, athletic, recreational and educational opportunities to more than 4,000 young people in the valley. Call 831-5543.
