Flu causes bus delays across district

If they were not home sick, students and bus drivers may have noticed a delay in school bus service last week.
Nearly a quarter of the district’s bus drivers were sick with the influenza virus, said Jim Garhart, transportation supervisor for Snoqualmie Valley School District. Read more

Thomas the Tank Engine is visiting the Snoqualmie Depot for the sixth consecutive year this July. Last year, all 18,000 tickets sold out, with people coming from as far as Florida to ride on the blue engine as he chugs down the track to Snoqualmie Falls. Read more

“This time of the year the bears are just coming out of hibernation,” said Julie Hayes Hopkins, a wildlife biologist and spokeswoman for the Grizzly Bear Outreach Project, during a lecture given Friday at the Meadowbrook Farms Interpretation Center in North Bend. Read more

Tam O’Shanter the winner in Mount Si season opener
BELLEVUE - Katie Somers’ senior season got off to a fast start Monday, but it wasn’t exactly the kind she was looking for.
The Mount Si golf standout - along with five of her teammates and six Interlake players - struggled all afternoon with speedy greens at Tam O’Shanter in Bellevue. Somers shot a nine-hole score of 43, seven above par. Read more
