Liquor store moves to Snoqualmie
April 2, 2008

North Bend and Snoqualmie residents will soon have a shorter drive to purchase liquor, as the Washington State Liquor Control Board is nearing completion of a temporary liquor store in Snoqualmie.
North Bend’s sole liquor outlet, which was located at 470 E. North Bend Way, was closed in November 2007. A new outlet, to be located in the Mountain Valley Center on Mt. Si Boulevard, is scheduled to open in January 2009.
The temporary store, located at 38565 River Street in Snoqualmie, is slated to open April 11.
Store hours at the Snoqualmie location will be 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday.
Anne Radford, a spokeswoman for the WSLCB, said the agency was anxious to reopen a North Bend outlet as quickly as possible.
The WSLCB continually surveys areas for potential sites, Radford said, “but we do not want to saturate any area.”
The North Bend Way location was closed, she said, due to repeated problems with what she termed unpleasant odors.
Byung Choi, owner of Cigar Land, 468 East North Bend Way, said he was sorry to learn the new liquor store would be located at another part of town.
“They were very good neighbors,” Choi said of the WSLCB store.
Choi said having a liquor store next door afforded many of his customers, and the liquor store’s customers, to avail themselves of one-stop shopping.
Of the unpleasant odors, Choi acknowledged that lots of people have complained, but nothing has been done.
