Editorial: Tighten your budget, but shop at home

If you have tightened the household budget to account for increased costs of gas and groceries, be assured you are not alone. These are important choices to make during tougher economic times.

For most in King County, at least there are jobs. The availability of good workers is still seen as a critical issue to many small businesses trying to hire.

The health of those small businesses are the life and soul of our community and need to be remembered as families strive to tighten the purse strings. It may be easier to shop at a big national retailer, but now is the time to think about your neighbors, those who own small businesses and are feeling your need to conserve. Read more
