Crash in North Bend injures three

Photo by John WinklerThree people were seriously injured Monday afternoon when their car plunged off an embankment in North Bend following a collision with a pickup truck.

An 18-year-old North Bend woman, her 6-month-old son and a 16-year-old passenger were injured when their 1998 Mercury Mystique collided with a 1997 Ford Ranger pickup truck driven by a 34-year-old Seattle man, at 4:50 p.m. on Winery Road.

According to the King County Sheriff’s Office, the baby suffered “extremely critical” injuries and the 16-year-old “critical” injuries. All three were airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

The driver of the pickup truck was not seriously injured.

No arrests or citations were issued, according to reports, but the accident is still under investigation.
