Events

The Summer Playground Program, organized by the City of Snoqualmie Parks and Recreation, will be July 7 through August 2. The camp is for youths ages 6-10 and costs $420 for the full seven weeks. One week is $60. To register, or for more information, call 831-5784.

Theatre Black Dog presents Sam Shepard’s “True West,” a tale of sibling rivalry, at 8 p.m. May 9, 10, 16, 17, 23 and 24 at 8062 Railroad Avenue in downtown Snoqualmie. There is a suggested $15 donation for admission. Beer, wine, coffee, desserts and snacks are served. For more information, call 888-1345.

The second annual Rally In The Valley, an adult flag football tournament, will be June 7 at Mount Si High School. Team slots are available and are $40 per player, which includes a t-shirt, hospitality tent and lunch. Deadline for signups is May 23. Proceeds to benefit Mount Si High School athletics.

Registration for adult men’s and co-ed recreational softball is now until June 13 with the City of Snoqualmie. The season begins July 8 and ends Aug. 31. For more information, please call the City of Snoqualmie Parks and Recreation department at 831-5784.

Fundraisers

The eighth Annual Spring Celebration Luncheon to raise funds for Providence Marianwood Foundation is 11:30 a.m. – 1:15 p.m. May 8 at Snoqualmie Ridge Golf Club. The theme of this year’s event is “Grace is Among Us.” John Curley from KING-TV’s Evening Magazine will be the keynote speaker. There is no charge to attend, but a minimum tax-deductible donation of $125 per person is suggested. For reservations call 391-2895.

Eastside Catholic Middle School Curriculum Night is at 6:30 p.m. May 8 at the North Bend Library.

Classes

Spanish classes are held every Thursday, 3:30-4:30 p.m. at the Sno-Valley Senior Center. Open to the community. $5 per class, drop-in basis, taught by Celide Rivero.

Food Addicts Anonymous meets at 7 p.m. every Thursday in North Bend. For more information, please call 888-0314.

Volunteer Opportunities

Adopt-A-Park with yourself, your family, neighbors or club. Adopt-A-Park is a volunteer program for Snoqualmie residents willing to help improve and enhance public parks and trails. Volunteering requires an application and a one-year commitment. Call 831-5784.

Be a Study Zone tutor and give students the homework help they need. Study Zone needs volunteers to tutor elementary through high school students in math, science, English, social studies and study methods. A two-hour weekly commitment and flexible substitute scheduling are available. The Study Zone program is a free service offered by the King County Library System. North Bend Library

Snoqualmie Valley Chess Club, for adults, children and families, meets at 7 p.m. Thursdays.

Game On, for ages 12 to 18, meets 3- 5 p.m. Fridays to play XBox 360, Playstation, Nintendo DS, Guitar Hero and DDS. Board games also are available.

English as a Second Language classes meet at 6:30 p.m. Mondays.

Toddler Story Time, for ages 2 to 3 with an adult, meets at 9:30 a.m. Tuesdays.

Preschool Story Time, for ages 3 to 6 with an adult, meets at 10:30 a.m. Tuesdays.

Snoqualmie Library

Study Zone, for students in grades kindergarten through 12th, is at 3 p.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays and 4 p.m. Thursdays.

Young Toddler Story Time, for age 12 to 24 months with an adult, is at 9:30 a.m. Wednesdays.

Preschool Story Time, for ages 3 to 6 with an adult, is at 10:30 a.m. Wednesdays.

Anime & Manga Club, for middle and high school students, meets at 3 p.m. Wednesdays to watch anime movies, eat popcorn and practice manga drawing.

Evening Family Story Time, for all young children with an adult, is at 6:30 p.m. Thursdays.

Mount Si Senior Center

Bingo is 6:45 every Friday and 5:45 p.m. Sunday.

Yoga is at 11 a.m. Wednesdays. Classes are $10 a session and there is a minimum enrollment requirement of five.

Snoqualmie Fraternal Order of Eagles’s Women’s Auxiliary meets the first and third Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. The Men’s Aerie meets the first and third Wednesday at 7 p.m. Meetings are held at 108 Railroad Ave. Call 888-1129.

The Snoqualmie Valley Youth Hub provides cultural, athletic, recreational and educational opportunities to more than 4,000 young people in the valley. Call 831-5543.
