Thursday Night Concerts at Si View Park began July 10 and will go through September. The upcoming schedule is “Beyond the Fringe” on July 24, “Timeless Soul” on July 31 and “Fabulous Roof Shaker” on Aug. 7. All concerts go from 6:30 to 8 p.m. To find out more, call 831-1900.
Snoqualmie Valley Hospital will raffle two bikes on July 27th at Meadowbrook Farm in North Bend as part of the Tour de Peaks. The adult bike is a Roubaix Expert Road bicycle manufactured by Specialized with a retail value of $3,300. The children’s bike is a Fuse 16 BMX, also manufactured by Specialized, with a retail value of $300. The bikes are currently on display at Singletrack Cycles, and will rotate through several Valley businesses between now and the event date. Raffle tickets - $2 for the adult bike and $1 for the children’s bike - can be purchased at the Snoqualmie Valley Chamber office, or from Bob Cole, 749-6905. You must be present to win.
“Host for the Hope,” a fundraiser for autism research, will be from 6-8 p.m. July 31 at Cascade Covenant Church in North Bend. There will be a dinner served and Graydon L. Agar. M.A., the executive director of Today’s Hope, will share stories and talk about his organization. Cost is $20 per person. For more information, call 206-225-7671.
The 69th annual Snoqualmie Railroad Days will be Aug. 1-3 in downtown Snoqualmie. The event is currently looking for volunteers, who will earn a free T-shirt and beverages for their service. To learn more about the event, go to http://www.railroaddays.com/.
The annual Festival at Mt Si will be Aug. 8-10 at Si View Parks in North Bend. At the festival, there will be concerts, arts and crafts booths, a pie-eating contest, fireworks, classic cars, food and more. For more information, go to www.siviewpark.org.
Learn about the history of Snoqualmie with instructor Dave Battey. Using historic photographs from the Snoqualmie Valley Historical Society, Battey shares a history of the city of Snoqualmie, from the ice age through the 1950s. The presentation is free and will be from 2-4 p.m. Aug. 31.
The North Bend Farmers Market will last until Sept. 11. The market is free to attend and lasts from 4 to 8 p.m. every Thursday at Si View Metro Parks.

Volunteer Opportunities
Adopt-A-Park with yourself, your family, neighbors or club. Adopt-A-Park is a volunteer program for Snoqualmie residents willing to help improve and enhance public parks and trails. Volunteering requires an application and a one-year commitment. Call 831-5784.
Be a Study Zone tutor and give students the homework help they need. Study Zone needs volunteers to tutor elementary through high school students in math, science, English, social studies and study methods. A two-hour weekly commitment and flexible substitute scheduling are available. The Study Zone program is a free service offered by the King County Library System. For more information, call 369-3312.
Share your love of books and make new friends by becoming a Friend of the Library in either Snoqualmie or North Bend. Annual memberships cost $5 for individuals and $10 for families and help expand opportunities for children, families and seniors around the community. To learn more, call 888-0554.

The City of Snoqualmie is seeking community members to serve as volunteers with the fire department. To be considered, applicants must by at least 21 years of age, live within 10 minutes of Snoqualmie and pass a basic entrance exam. A written exam and oral board with be held at 9 a.m. Aug. 16 at the fire station. The physical agility test and the fire academy will be at Mount View Fire in Auburn. Recruit introduction and physical agility tests will be Oct. 4, the same day the academy begins. The recruit academy lasts about three months. “A Bug’s Tale,” an interactive program of stories and songs from a bug’s perspective, will be at 2 p.m. July 30.

The Pizza and Pages Teen Book Group will be at 3 p.m. July 29. Students in grades 6 to 12 can talking about books they’ve read and eat free pizza.
