Emergency notification system testing scheduled in Snoqualmie

The city of Snoqualmie will test its emergency notification system the week of Oct. 20 to 27.

Residents need to do nothing, unless they have moved to Snoqualmie within the past year or have moved within the past year and kept the same telephone number, according to city officials.

Residents wishing to update their telephone numbers and address with the city may do so online at www.ci.snoqualmie.wa.us and by clicking on the sign up and information link.

Residents without Internet access may call 425-888-5911, with their contact information: name, address and telephone number.

Residents may also register multiple telephone numbers, which would enable them to receive emergency notification alerts on their cell phones.

Fire Chief Bob Rowe said the test is essential to ensuring the city’s emergency system is working properly.

“Our goal is to be able to notify every resident in the city, in the case of a potential emergency, within one hour,” Rowe said.

The emergency notification system has the capability of placing “mass” calls of up to 500 numbers in one minute, Rowe said.
