A 29-year-old North Bend man died Thanksgiving morning after jumping from the observation deck at Snoqualmie Falls in an apparent suicide attempt.
The name of the victim is not being released at this time, according to public information officer Becky Munson of the Snoqualmie Police Department.
Police received a cell phone call to 911 from the Salish Lodge at 8:30 a.m., on November 27, after hearing a scream near the waterfall and seeing what appeared to be the victim’s body below the falls.
King County Search and Rescue retrieved the victim’s body from below the falls.
Police found what they believe to be a suicide note inside of a book in the victim’s car.
Munson said that police department records indicate that the falls have averaged about one suicide a year for the last ten years.
