City of Snoqualmie to provide containers for garbage

The City of Snoqualmie Public Works Department and Allied Waste Management are providing containers for residents to drop-off garbage and recycling that accumulated during the service interruptions caused by the winter weather.

The containers will be available at Community Park on Wednesday, Dec. 31 and Friday, Jan. 2 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Community Park is located at 35016 SE Ridge Street.

The drop-off location will be managed by Allied Waste staff. Garbage and recycling should be sorted before it is brought to the drop-off.

The New Year’s Eve holiday will delay garbage and recycling services in Snoqualmie by one day. If the regularly scheduled pick-up is on Thursday, Jan. 1, it will be delayed until the following day Friday, Jan. 2.

The garbage and recycling pick-up schedule will return to normal the week of Jan. 5.

Questions about garbage and recycling services should be directed to Allied Waste Management at 206-682-9730. Allied Waste updates are posted to the Regional Public Information Network (RPIN) website at www.rpin.org. Other questions related to public works services and operations may be directed to the City of Snoqualmie Public Works Department at 425-831-4919.

Puget Sound Blood Center needs donors

Western Washington’s blood supply will reach an emergency level within a matter of days. Due to last week’s snowstorm and icy weather, the Puget Sound Blood Center has:

• Cancelled more than 15 blood drives.

• Lost more than 1,000 blood donations

• Lost more than 50 platelet donations.

With more inclement weather forecast, it expects to lose an additional 500 donations. And with the holidays, that could mean approximately 25 percent fewer donors than center officials would typically expect.

It takes more than 900 donor registrations every day to maintain an operational blood supply in Western Washington. For the safety and care of patients, the Blood Center urges donors to stop by one of their 11 donor centers.

Schedule an appointment by calling 1-800-398-7888 toll-free. Walk-ins are also welcome. Go to www.psbc.org for donation center hours and driving directions.
