Snoqualmie residents asked to evacuate for flooding

City officials in Snoqualmie are advising residents who live or work in the floodway or floodplain to evacuate immediately.
A temporary shelter is available at Cascade View Elementary School and on Snoqualmie Ridge at 34816 Southeast Ridge Street. Residents in the path of the flood have been urged to move household and valuable items to upper floors if possible.

Water spills over Railroad Avenue in downtown Snoqualmie in the early afternoon of Wednesday, Jan. 7. The road was later closed.
Both Snoqualmie and North Bend officials have activated an emergency operations center to monitor the flood.
A woman had to be rescued from her car by the North Bend firefighters after she tried to drive through water over a roadway.
The Snoqualmie River is at Phase 4 flood level. Flows of 33,000 cubic feet per second have been recorded at the river monitoring station near Snoqualmie. The river is predicted to crest at about 10 p.m. today at approximately 58,000 cubic feet per second.
In Snoqualmie, sandbags and sand are available at the King Street parking lot in downtown Snoqualmie. Residents who wish to relocate their vehicles can park at the Community Park parking lot on Snoqualmie Ridge and on Ridge Street in front of the Community Park.
Assistance may be obtained by calling the Snoqualmie Emergency Operations Center at 888-5911. Volunteers can also call this number to offer assistance. Snoqualmie’s Emergency Operations Center is located at the city’s fire department at 37600 S.E. Snoqualmie Parkway.
Street closures in Snoqualmie include: Southeast Mill Pond Road between Tokul Road Southeast; Southeast Reinig Road between Southeast Mill Pond Road and 396th Drive Southeast; and Southeast Reinig Road between 396th Avenue Southeast and 428th Avenue Southeast.
In North Bend, Ribary Creek is overtopping its banks and flooding parking lots in the Safeway area. Mount Si Boulevard has been closed from the north driveway to Safeway and the South Fork Avenue intersection. Parking lots at McDonald’s, Taco Time and Safeway have been closed due to water on the roadway. The Factory Outlet Mall is reported to be closed.
Overflow water from the creek is flowing into the Safeway detention pond and overflowing from the pond over South Fork Avenue into the Pong property. Ballarat Avenue at 12th Avenue is also closed with water over the roadway.
Residents of the Moon Valley subdivision are advised to be careful in finding a way back into town. Also, Moon Valley Road is closed at the North Fork Road intersection.
Additionally, 415th Avenue Southeast has been closed down due to water over the roadway from Ribary Creek.
