Sexton Arthur Johnson died April 17 at the age of 59.

Better known as Junior, or J.R., Johnson was born on Aug. 2, 1949. He and his six siblings started life in Federal Way, before they moved to the mountain town of Baring, where his love of trees began.

J.R. was a decorated Vietnam veteran and a self-taught guitar player. He was a true woodsman, working for many years as a logger. J.R. enjoyed hiking, fishing and anything that brought him into the trees. He became a skilled wood craftsman, creating works of art, large and small, with lumber that he milled himself. One of J.R.’s life dreams was to build his own home. That home was completed shortly before he.

He is survived by his wife Anita, his son’s Josh, Bobby and Bill, his step children Lisa and Tony, his grandchildren, nieces and nephews and many others who loved this gentle man. You can sign J.R.’s on-line guest book at www.legacy.com.
