Jean Shultz
Jean Shultz of North Bend died May 17, 2009 in Bellevue at the age of 81.
Shultz was born in Darlington, England on Aug. 19, 1927 to Sidney and Annie Hobson. She was raised in Darlington, England, but later lived in Seattle, Bellevue and North Bend. She married Donald Shultz on Aug. 22, 1948 in Snoqualmie. She was a member of the Snoqualmie Valley Alliance Church and enjoyed spending time with family, reading and traveling.
Shultz is survived by a daughter, Cathy Westerlund of Snoqualmie; a son, Niel Shultz of North Bend; a daughter, Amy Wright of Fall City; and siblings Colin Hobson, John Hobson and Kathryn Simon of England. She is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Shultz.
There will be a memorial service at 1 p.m. May 28 at the Mt. Si Lutheran Church in North Bend. Make memorial donations to the Snoqualmie Valley Relay for Life.
Dennis M. Anderson
Dennis M. Anderson (Denny) of North Bend died May 5, 2009, after a quiet and courageous fight with pancreatic cancer.
Dennis was born Oct. 18, 1943 in Port Townsend, Wash., the son of Maurice ‘MC’ and Ruth Anderson (Kilmer). Dennis spent his early years in the logging town of National at Mount Rainier, graduated from high school in Battle Ground near Vancouver, Wash., and attended Clark College, where he earned an Applied Arts degree in Auto Body. Dennis served with the United States Marines in Vietnam from 1966-1968, before returning home to an extended career, which included work in the auto body field, owning several businesses and most recently operating a cement mixer for Cadman as a member of Teamster’s No. 174.
Throughout his life, Dennis was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hiking in the Cascades and trout fishing in local streams and rivers. He also enjoyed restoring and showing street rods at Northwest events, most recently a modified 1954 Chevrolet pickup. A favorite vacation spot was on the beach in Kona, Hawaii.
Survivors include his wife Kathleen (Boyle) of North Bend, children Sarah Jacobs (Rob) of Woodinville, and Zachary Anderson of Seattle, mother Ruth Anderson of North Bend, brothers Victor (Georgean) of North Bend and Russell (Ginger) of Snoqualmie, grandchildren Alyssa and Nicholas Jacobs, and many other extended family members.
A memorial will be hosted at noon on June 7 at the Jacobs residence, 20220 149th PL NE, Woodinville, WA 98072, followed by a private graveside ceremony at Shine cemetery at a later date.
