Tea Party attendees misunderstood
Once again, I find the tone from those that do not understand the Tea Parties condescending and arrogant. This is the same tone used by Pelosi, Reid, many broadcasters and unfortunately even Obama and his administration. So, let me explain why this tea-bagger is protesting…
Taxes: While the largest tax decrease to income may be coming; what’s being ignored are the additional taxes coming. This administration has proposed $60B in new taxes, already passed additional taxes on certain consumable goods and proposed the largest tax increase on fuel in our country’s history. The government is funded by taxes and/or borrowing. China and Japan own most of our debt and has indicated they are hesitant to loan the U.S. anymore. So what is left?
Socialism: Would I give up Social Security? Yes, absolutely. This system of forced retirement savings is nice in theory. Unfortunately, government’s mismanagement of it has destroyed it. Every person in government acknowledges Social Security is a decade or less from bankruptcy.
Yes, some “socialism”, is acceptable. It is not a contradiction to support some social welfare programs and yet not want more. I do not support the following social welfare programs: bank, auto or insurance company bailouts and national healthcare. If you look at the UK, national healthcare has proven to be untimely, inefficient and costly. Why would I trust the federal government to manage my health when they are bankrupting Social Security?
Deficit spending: I am not surprised that when using Bush’s spending to justify Obama’s spending that Sept. 11 is conveniently ignored. Put that spending in context of the attack, the cost to recover and unfortunately, the cost of war. Take the right or wrong out of it and remember our president’s primary job is to protect our country.
Obama, like Bush, is a man of principle and he believes his job is to make government “caretaker” of the American people. I believe even if our country wasn’t in an economic crisis, he would further his agenda at any cost. Fortunately for him, this economic crisis will serve him well. Or as Hilary Clinton put it, “Never waste a good crisis.”
Recently, as reported by the AP that Obama will borrow $0.46 for every $1.00 spent per his budget. Any sane person has got to realize this is downright crazy! Plus, with the additional printing of unsecured money, the inevitable inflation will undermine any tax decrease provided by Obama. What good is getting more income when your dollar is worth much less?
For president, I have voted Democrat, Libertarian and Republican. So the comment that tea-baggers are “conservative Republicans” is an arrogant assumption. I am a fiscally conservative, socially moderate mother of two that is concerned her children will grow up in a country that teaches them that they are entitled to everything and must work for nothing. That regardless of circumstances, aptitude or perseverance they are entitled to no more or less than others. I am concerned that my children will only know a life of mediocrity in a mediocre country.
My question to you is, “how can you not protest?!”
