Girls soccer
Mount Si’s girls soccer team continued its offensive outbreak last week with a 1-0 win over Juanita. The Wildcats have struggled this season with scoring, but have had success against not only some weaker teams – Juanita and Interlake – but also Mercer Island, which is currently in first place for the 3A KingCo Conference. Mount Si sits in third place, trailed closely by Liberty and Juanita. The Wildcats’ success has come also in large part because of airtight defense. Through the season’s first 10 games, they recorded one shut out, while being shut out four times.
They haven’t allowed a goal in their past four games, while scoring four goals.
The Wildcats took on second-place Sammamish Oct. 27, but no results were available by press time. Mount Si lost at Sammamish earlier this month 4-2.
Volleyball
The Wildcats volleyball team hit a small road bump against Juanita in its run to the postseason. After three tough fought sets, Mount Si was down 2-1.
However, the Wildcats pulled out the final two sets to win. The final set was called at 15-13 due to time. Senior Robyn Schirmer led the team with 9 kills and 43 assists.
Girls cross country
Wildcat runners earned a spot in the district championships. Megan Past led the way for Mount Si, finishing the 3.1 mile course in 20:17. Seniors Alex Rudd and Kendall Maddox finished seventh and ninth.
