For the second time this year, Snoqualmie Middle School students and staff had to evacuate the school due to a bomb threat.
School administrators canceled classes and activities after the bomb threat written on a note was found in a school bathroom at about 8:45 a.m. Nov. 18, according to school officials.
The note indicated a bomb was set for 11 a.m., prompting school administrators to call 911.
Students and staff were evacuated from the building and walked down the street to the Mount Si High School auditorium.
As of noon, police were inspecting SMS with bomb-sniffing dogs, district spokeswoman Carolyn Malcolm said.
SMS staff will supervise middle school students until school is released at 2:12 p.m. Parents can pick up their children early by checking in at Mount Si High School’s front office and will need to bring identification. Parents may use the Mount Si bus lanes for pick-up until 1:45 p.m., according to a district press release.
No student will be released early without a parent signature.
In the meantime, lunch arrangements are being made for all SMS students, Malcolm said.
Students who left belongings at SMS this morning, should continue to check the district Web site at www.svsd410.org to see if the building will re-open today or if they need to wait until tomorrow morning to retrieve their belongings, according to a press release.
This is the second bomb threat at SMS this year. A student found another bomb threat on a note in a hallway Oct. 21. Malcolm said the district takes all bomb threats seriously.
“At all times students’ safety must be our top priority so when there is any question that a situation could be a real one, we have to do what is needed to remove students and staff to a safe location,” Malcolm said. “Obviously, this is very frustrating when it is a hoax.”

Hey. I attend this school, and quite frankly this is ticking me off… Other schools dont have this problem! So why is it SMS? I dont really understand this at all. If whoever did this is reading this, you’d better know what you did was wrong, and your not cool for doing this. And the sad part is, the reason whoever did this, probably did it, was to get out of a freakin science test. And you know what? We had to take it today anyway! Sure, no one wants to take the test. But that is absolutely no reason to make everyone leave the school, in fear that the school, and all their belongings are going to be blown up! I hope whoever did this gets caught, cause this really needs to stop. GO EAGLES!
