The wheels on Snoqualmie Valley school buses safely go round and round, according to the Washington State Patrol. For the fifth year in a row, the patrol awarded the district’s transportation department an “outstanding” inspection.

During the biannual inspection, the patrol checks brakes, lights, tire tread, windows and exhaust leaks, among other things.

“It’s great to continue to have a great inspection,” Snoqualmie Valley transportation supervisor Jim Garhart said. “It’s good applause to our drivers and our two mechanics, Dick Casperson and Sam Boyce.”

Bus drivers monitor their equipment and report issues to the mechanics on a daily basis.

Last year, Snoqualmie Valley school bus drivers traveled 665,000 miles and transported more than 3,300 students daily.

The bus maintenance shop is located beside the district’s administrative building on Silva Avenue in Snoqualmie.
