Middle school receives second bomb threat of the year

For the second time this year, Snoqualmie Middle School students and staff had to evacuate the school due to a bomb threat Nov. 18.
School administrators canceled classes and activities after the bomb threat written on a note was found in a school bathroom at about 8:45 a.m. Nov. 18, according to school officials.
The note indicated a bomb was set for 11 a.m., prompting school administrators to call 911.
Students and staff members were evacuated from the building and walked down the street to the Mount Si High School auditorium.
Police inspected the school with bomb-sniffing dogs, but found nothing, district spokeswoman Carolyn Malcolm said.
SMS staff supervised middle school students until school was released at 2:12 p.m. Parents could pick up their children early, but no students were released early without a parent signature.
This is the second bomb threat at SMS this year. A student found a bomb threat on a note in a hallway Oct. 21. Malcolm said the district takes all bomb threats seriously.
“At all times, students’ safety must be our top priority, so when there is any question that a situation could be a real one, we have to do what is needed to remove students and staff to a safe location,” Malcolm said. “Obviously, this is very frustrating when it is a hoax.”
