Snoqualmie man sentenced to four years for racist graffiti spree

Almost a year after downtown Snoqualmie was hit by racist graffiti and vandalism, a Snoqualmie man pleaded guilty to the spree and to assaulting a police officer. He was sentenced to
Adam Moore pleaded guilty June 17 at King County Superior Court to three counts of malicious harassment and third degree assault of a police officer. He was sentenced to 37 months for the assault and 50 months for the malicious harassment.

No new license fee
Our family has been severely affected by the poor economy. I was laid off from my employer in the auto dealership industry in June 2009 and have yet to return to the employment sector due to lack of jobs.
King County recently increased property taxes on our home by an additional $204 annually. Although this may not seem like much to you, this increase has forced us to scale back our personal budget and make sacrifices, including driving less.
Painters bring their best brush to Snoqualmie

The second annual Snoqualmie Plein Air Paint Out will gather some of the finest painters in the West, as they each start and finish a painting in seven hours, all in the open air.

Under a bright August sun, Mount Si High School’s football team ran sprints between yard lines.
Under their pads and helmets, sweat ran down the players’ heads. It stung their eyes and tasted salty in their mouths.
Snoqualmie police get new operations captain

The Snoqualmie Police Department has a new second in command, Capt. Steve McCulley.
The Snoqualmie resident joins the force after serving with the Washington State Patrol for 27 years. He and his family have lived in Snoqualmie for 19 years.
McCulley will run the department’s operations.
With WSP, McCulley served as a trooper and detective. He was lieutenant of operations for District 2, based in Bellevue. In addition to other positions, he also supervised WSP’s bomb squad.

North Bend City Council approves new finance director

The North Bend City Council has confirmed the appointment of Maryann Nelson as the city’s new finance director.
She follows Elena Montgomery, who retires Sept. 1 after 20 years of working for the city.
Nelson has a Master of Business Administration from the University of Washington, and more than 20 years of experience in banking. She has served as the chief financial officer for three local banks.

Meg Wolf reached through the green leaves toward a plump blueberry at Bybee Blueberry Farm, looking for the perfect berry to fill the cobblers at her wedding.
“I look for big, firm blueberries,” Wolf said. “You don’t want it to be too mushy.”
She and her fiancé Seamus Kelly had recruited 20 of their wedding guests to come to the North Bend blueberry farm to pick blueberries for cobblers that would feed 125 people.
