Snoqualmie Tribe chief Earl Moses dies

Snoqualmie Tribe chief Earl Moses once told a reporter that he would never leave his family’s land on Indian Hill overlooking the lush valley named after his people.
He was true to his word.
The 72-year-old Moses died Sept. 25 at Swedish Hospital in Seattle. Family and friends were with him. He was buried in the Fall City Cemetery.
School coach gives parent straight talk on youth athletics

Parenthood is no time for trades, longtime coach Bruce Brown told parents during his speech on youth athletics.
“You can’t trade in your kid for a better athlete, and they can’t trade you in for a better parent,” he said in Snoqualmie Middle School’s gym. “You got what you got.”
Brown’s Sept. 29 presentation was titled “The Role of Parents in Athletics,” but he described it as things children want to say to parents but won’t.
“This is not one kid or one team,” he said. “This is three decades of me asking players what they need from adults.”
Montana man’s body found in car in North Bend Safeway parking lot

North Bend police discovered the body of a 36-year-old man Sept. 28 in a white sports utility vehicle in a Safeway parking lot.
The man, James Crandall, of Bonner, Mont., appeared to have died from natural causes, North Bend Police Chief Mark Toner said.
The King County Medical Examiner has not determined an official cause of death yet.
Witnesses told police that the car had been seen in the parking lot for several days before Crandall’s body was found.
Volunteers join in for World Habitat Day
