Letters: Si View Bazaar
December 22, 2010
I hosted a table at the Si View Bazaar on Dec. 4 of this year.
The theme was targeted toward raising money and getting cards signed to go to the Wounded Warrior Transitional Battalion at McChord/Fort Lewis.
I am happy to report that more than 100 cards were signed and mailed last week to the Public Affairs Office and Afghanistan. More than 40 treat bags were filled with candy bought by you; they will go into the battalion this Sunday.
Educating the uneducated can be difficult

“I can’t stand winter,” said Herb Collins, who had dropped in at the Mule Barn’s philosophy counter for a quick cup. “There’s nothing to do.”
“Get out and enjoy it,” Doc suggested. “Go skiing. Go ice fishing. Build a snowman. Do something. Then, you’ll feel better.”
“I don’t think your advice will take,” Dud said. “Herb seems to be intransigent on this one.”
We all looked at Dud.

Juanita jumped ahead early on, putting up a 16-6 lead in the first quarter. The Rebels wrapped the game up with a 19-point fourth quarter.
“We were really off last night — not like our normal feisty play,” Wildcats coach Megan Botulinski said the day after the Juanita game.

NEW — 12:55 p.m. Dec. 22, 2010
The Mount Si boys basketball team was dealt a hard loss when Jackson High School rallied late in their Dec. 18 game to beat the Wildcats 65-62. Jackson is in the WesCo 4A Conference.
The deciding shot was a 3-point basket by Jackson’s Brett Kingma, one of the top players in the state, with less than a minute to play. The senior has committed to play at the University of Oregon next year.
Kingma led the Wolverines’ offense with 28 points. He is averaging 31.1 points per game this season.
Momentum shifted several times early on, but at halftime, the Wildcats were ahead, 38-25. But the Wolverines came back in the last half, outscoring Mount Si 40-24.
