Judge allows Snoqualmie man to pass out religious leaflets at Issaquah’s Salmon Days
October 3, 2011
A federal judge ruled that Snoqualmie resident Paul Ascherl could pass out religious literature at Issaquah’s Salmon Days Festival. Issaquah police prevented him from doing so last year. Festival officials wanted to limit him to an “expression area” this year.
In a lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court in Seattle last month, Ascherl said Issaquah police officers threatened to arrest him for handing out Christian literature in places outside the pair of downtown “expression areas” on festival grounds last year. Ascherl relocated to the “expression areas” after police and a festival official intervened.

It is now illegal to park within 10 feet of community mailboxes on Snoqualmie Ridge.
The city will put reflective “No Parking” stickers on the side of mailboxes affected by the ordinance, which the City Council passed at its Sept. 26 meeting.
