Mount Si and Little Si trailheads and trails will remain closed through Feb. 28 while crews work to remove the wreckage of the single-engine airplane that crashed in the Mount Si Natural Resources Conservation Area on Feb. 15, according to a press release from the state’s Department of Natural Resources, which manages the land.

Mount Si, located in eastern King County near the town of North Bend, is a popular recreation area along the I-90 corridor.

“We know this closure affects a lot of people’s weekend plans, and we appreciate everyone’s patience,” said Doug McClelland, Assistant Region Manager for DNR’s South Puget Sound Region. “For public safety reasons, DNR is keeping the area closed through the weekend to give the contractor and crews … clear access to the site.”

DNR will provide updates on the status of the Mount Si area through its social media tools.
