Snoqualmie Valley Hospital offering free whooping cough vaccines

Whooping cough (pertussis) cases in King County continue to increase. As of June 8, there were 2,092 confirmed cases in Washington, and 366 confirmed cases in King County, according to a Snoqualmie Valley Hospital press release.
The upward trend continues not only in Washington, but also in Oregon, so SVH is offering free vaccines June 20 at the SnoValley Senior Center in Carnation.
The Department of Health makes allowance for injection fees of $16. However, SVH is opting to absorb these fees and administer these vaccines at no charge for anyone 19 years or older who has no immunization coverage.
“This effort fits into the hospital’s mission of safeguarding the health of our community,” Rodger McCollum, CEO of the hospital, said in a press release.
These vaccines are available upon request in any of their clinics, including the Primary Care Clinic, located at the hospital. The hospital is also working to provide these vaccines to outreach locations, upon specific onsite requests, subject to some scheduling and distance limitations, according to the press release.
