The city of Snoqualmie and the American Red Cross are offering a free emergency shelter training class to prepare community volunteers to effectively and sensitively manage shelter operations as a team, according to a press release from the city.

The course will be taught by an American Red Cross instructor. Participants will learn how to meet the needs of people displaced from their homes after a major emergency or disaster. They will have an opportunity to work in teams using their new knowledge and skills in a simulation of running a typical shelter operation. All shelter workers will need to submit to a background check.

The class will be from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Sept. 12, at the Snoqualmie Valley YMCA, 35018 SE Ridge St.

Space is limited and advance registration is required  by calling 888-5911 or eoc@ci.snoqualmie.wa.us.
