A boat trailer that lost a tire on Interstate 90 started a large brush fire near North Bend Sept. 3.
Glenn Huffman, a battalion chief with Eastside Fire & Rescue, said the exposed axle sparked several small fires when it dragged along the pavement near exit 34.
He said a fire engine from North Bend first responded to the fire at 4:30 p.m. and found a 50-foot by 2,000-foot section of brush ignited along the interstate.
Multiple units from EFR, Fall City and the U.S. Forest Service had the fire under control within an hour, but it took another hour to fully extinguish the fire, Huffman said.

So many fires have been caused by dragging safety chains and defective tires on boat trailers it is not funny. Go to http://www.dangeroustraielrs.org and wake up…if a Ford car or even a Toyota Car did this….every lawyer would be going after these companies…then why is nobody going after the Utility Trailer Industry when they have and advocate NO UNIFIED STANDARDS ANYTHING GOES..!!!!!! NO INSPECTIONS, POOR WHEEL BEARINGS AND SO ON.
