The process of providing and maintaining transportation infrastructure is being squarely placed on those that need to travel by car and are increasingly held hostage over all other systems in the puget sound corridor. We seem to think it is fair to tax 520 and I-90 instead of the goverment providing infrastrure that we all pay for today. Where is the accountability by our local and state government ? Instead we allow a broad tax on daily commuter while exempting all of Mercer Island among other special interests including our local Transit organizations.
I say no to toll roads – we all use them including the delivery of all consummable goods that are deliverd through our roads and will result in increased costs to the average consummer in the Puget Sound region. Should we toll every new road since these are only in local neighborhoods and only serve those living there – sick and tired for being punished as a commuter.

Continuing to add tolls to commuters’ time, expenses, and frustrations only serve to increase the hardship that we are all dealing with already. Washington has one of the highest tax rates, and is also excessive in the number of different taxes that are charged on residents and travelers. Washington has one of the highest gas tax rates – where is this money going? Washington, and specifically King County, have a bad rap for poor money management, and it needs to stop. It is repeatedly obvious the level of waste, especially with so-called discovery reports of contracted workers lounging and drinking on the job, while being paid a healthy wage that many other people can only dream of having. Instead of adding more taxes in the form of tolls, cut the fat and the red tape, stop wasting taxpayer dollars on things that are not necessary, and start re-allocating funds for what they were INTENDED for, and where they are actually needed! The same can be said for the transit tax that was slapped on every single vehicle registered in King County, regardless if the vehicle owner uses King County transit. All unnecessary “fixes” to a system that clearly needs to be overhauled and re-written.
