Meat me out front

An Elderberry Avenue Southeast resident reported to police that at 2:45 p.m. Jan. 30 a man in a white van approached her and her children while they were in the garage. She said he asked if her family were “meat-eaters.”

He apparently was selling meat. She asked him to leave, but he went to the front door and knocked. He eventually left.

Drunken driving

On Jan. 4, just after midnight, police pulled over Tiffany M. Padilla-Glen, 29, of Des Moines, on Ballarat Avenue.

According to the report, she didn’t pull over right away, so a second deputy was called to the scene and she did eventually pull over.

Beer cans were spotted in the car and Padilla-Glen told the officer she drank two whiskey and 7-Ups earlier.

She agreed to two breath samples, which resulted in a .213 and .198 blood alcohol content readings.

Police arrested Padilla-Glen for driving under the influence and driving while her license was suspended.

She was driven to her boyfriend’s house and released.

Cigarette run

At 10 a.m. Jan. 14, police on northbound Railroad Avenue Southeast saw a car pass them near the intersection of Snoqualmie Parkway.

A status check showed the driver had a suspended license for refusing a breath test.

When police contacted him, the driver said he knew his license was suspended but he was just getting cigarettes for his father.

Police told him he should not drive anymore and that he would receive a criminal citation in the mail for driving with a suspended license.

 

Drunken driving

At 10:35 p.m. Jan. 14, police responded to a complaint that some men who looked intoxicated were disrupting customers at Papa John’s pizza, 7328 Better Way S.E. Police learned that the two men left the store in a silver Dodge pickup.

Police saw the Dodge make an illegal U-turn and speed away.

They stopped the truck near the intersection of Snoqualmie Parkway and Railroad Avenue Southeast. As police approached the Dodge, the driver, Edward Robert Thomas, 45, handed police a debit card, thinking it was his driver’s license.

Police asked the driver if he was sure. The driver said yes. The officer replied he did not take Visa.

The driver fumbled as he searched for his license, and he had bloodshot, watery eyes and smelled of alcohol.

After failing a breath test, police arrested Thomas for driving under the influence. He was taken to the Issaquah City Jail for booking.

Suspicious charges

At 12:24 p.m. Dec. 30, a woman told police her bank had notified her that some suspicious charges had been made to her account — three $800 purchases at a Walmart in Colorado, a place she has not been to recently.

After determining the fraudulent nature of the charges, the card was cancelled.

 

Missing methadone

At 9:25 a.m. Jan. 3, a woman came to the North Bend station of the King County Sheriff’s Office, saying someone had stolen her methadone.

On Christmas Eve, she had her methadone hidden in a boot. That day, she had 16 guests at her house.

On Dec. 26, she realized that 14 days’ worth of pills had disappeared, approximately 154 pills. She said she did not know who might have taken them.

Drunken driving

At 10:39 p.m. Jan. 7, police saw a 1994 Honda speeding south on Snoqualmie Parkway approaching the corner of Douglas Street.

The driver, 60-year-old Gil Garcia ran a red light and almost hit another car traveling on Douglas Street.

When police stopped him, Garcia’s car smelled of alcohol, and he had droopy, watery eyes.

He failed field sobriety tests, almost falling to the ground when exiting the car, and was arrested for driving under the influence.

Police took him to the Snoqualmie Police Department and later to the Issaquah City Jail.

 

Warrant arrest

At 7:57 a.m. Jan 8, police responded to a call about a suspicious white male walking down 384th Avenue with a backpack. As the male approached Southeast Kimball Creek Drive, police asked him about his destination.

The man, 27, said he was going to get cigarettes.

Police asked him for identification and he responded by walking away. Asked again, the man showed an I.D. card. A status check showed the man had a felony warrant out of Ellensburg.

Police arrested him and searched him and his bag, finding a glass pipe and some marijuana.

Police later found a scale, some plastic baggies, a metal tin and a glass tube containing white crystals.

The man was taken to King County Jail for the warrant and will face charges for possession of drug paraphernalia and marijuana.

The white crystals tested positive for methamphetamine.

 

Drug pack

At 10:21 a.m. Jan. 8, police arrived at Stellar Park, 34506 S.E. Stellar Way, Snoqualmie. Police examined a pink backpack found on the ground.

Next to the backpack sat a smoking pipe, a leather pouch, a bag of tobacco and a glass jar with marijuana seeds.

Police checked the area but found nobody.

 

Drunken driving, with dogs

At 2:05 a.m. Jan. 12, police saw a 2011 Chevrolet pickup traveling north in the 9400 block of Meadowbrook Way. The driver of the pickup, 51-year-old Daniel C. Vaughn, was driving with his high-beam lights on.

Police followed him and saw him drive over the centerline for about 100 feet, at which point they stopped him.

Vaughn smelled of alcohol and underwent field sobriety tests, struggling with some of them. Police arrested him on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.

He then failed a breath test and was taken to the Snoqualmie Police Department. He was later booked into the Issaquah City Jail.

Vaughn’s two dogs, in the truck with him at the time, spent the night at the SPD. Police told Vaughn to arrange for someone to pick up the dogs or they would be released to animal control.

There was no information from North Bend Police, nor for fire calls for either city. The Star publishes names of those arrested for DUI and those charged with felony crimes. Information comes directly from local police reports.

Safety check

At 11:45 a.m. Dec. 19, police responded to a call from a woman at a Chevron gas station, 745 S.W. Mount Si Blvd. The woman said she was going through a divorce and she had noticed a car followed her that day.

She drove home and noticed a white car, similar to a Ford Crown Victoria, followed her and had followed her in the past. She said her husband had people follow her at a mall in Tukwila in early December.

Police followed the woman home to make sure she was safe and advised her to contact Tukwila police about the incident at the mall. She already had protection orders against her husband in Kittitas and King counties.

No vehicle for you

At 10:28 a.m. Dec. 28, police arrested a man who arrived at the intersection of Meadowbrook Way and Railroad Avenue southeast to retrieve a vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle had been arrested for driving with a suspended license.

As it turns out, the man also had a warrant for his arrest, out of Lynnwood.

He was taken to Lynnwood and turned over to a Lynnwood police officer.

Smoking and drinking

At 12:15 a.m. Dec. 15, police saw a green Honda Civic southbound on Snoqualmie Parkway with a defective third brake light. Police stopped the car and the driver had bloodshot eyes, smelled of marijuana and alcohol.

The driver, 23-year-old Mitchell J. Kling, of Kent, had green froth on his tongue, a sign he had recently smoked marijuana. He admitted to having marijuana in his car and was arrested for possession of under 40 grams of marijuana.

He was taken to the Snoqualmie Police Department for booking and later released at a friend’s house.

DUI

At 5:59 p.m. Dec. 10, police traveling north on Snoqualmie Parkway saw a car travel in the same direction without lights on. The car had no taillights, dim front driving lights and was traveling at about 10 mph under the speed limit.

When the vehicle stopped, just south of Fisher Street, the driver rolled down the window and the smell of marijuana emanated from the car. The driver had red, watery eyes and constricted pupils.

He told police he had a license, he just did not know where and identified himself with his passport. Police told him they could smell the pot and asked him where it was.

The driver, 42-year-old Travis Boothe, handed police a small container with about one gram of marijuana and a pipe.

Ironic bike theft

At 4:15 p.m. Nov. 16, police responded to the theft of a bicycle from the North Bend branch of the King County Library System.

A 16-year-old boy had his bike stolen while he had a drink of water inside the library. The bicycle is a MirraCo Essex 2010 BMX, with green handle bars, black grips, a black frame and two black rims.

The handlebars say “Stolen” on them, which is the name of the company.

 

Driving while suspended

At 11:10 p.m. Nov. 10, police spotted a black Volkswagen near the intersection of Ballarat Avenue and Northeast Sixth Street.

The owner had a suspended license and had a requirement to drive with an interlock ignition device. The driver ignored the police’s emergency lights and kept on driving.

He then pulled into his own driveway.

Police arrested him as he got out of the car. He apologized profusely and said he was not thinking right.

He will face charges of driving with a suspended license, operating vehicle without an ignition interlock, failing to obey an officer and driving with expired license plates.

 Those aren’t cigarettes

At 3:13 a.m. Nov. 26, police in the 6500 block of Railroad Avenue Southeast saw a car in the parking lot of the Salish Lodge and Spa, when the parking lot was closed. The car had California plates, the engine running, a man in the driver’s seat and a woman in the passenger seat.

Police parked behind the car and as the man exited the car, he saw police and tossed a cigarette pack inside the vehicle. The couple told police they had just been watching the Snoqualmie Falls, but police saw a pipe for smoking marijuana next to the cigarette pack. Police arrested them both for criminal trespassing.

Police discovered three grams of marijuana inside the cigarette pack. Police asked to whom the pipe belonged and the woman said it was the man’s. Police arrested the man for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. He was taken to the Issaquah City Jail and booked. Police told the woman she would receive a criminal citation in the mail and she was released at the scene.
