Opstad PTA awards $12K in grants

The PTA at Opstad Elementary School awarded $7,750 in teacher grants and a $4,918 grant for remodeling the gym and the play areas.

The bigger amount was funded through the school’s annual walkathon and the smaller one was raised via the Hops for Hoops fundraiser and the Box Tops For Education campaign.

According to a press release from the school, the walkathon money funds subjects such as music, physical education, reading, math, art and educational assemblies.

Valley group welcomes music teachers

The Snoqualmie Valley Friends of the Performing Arts will host a reception for the school district’s new music teachers at 6 p.m. Oct. 4 at Boxley’s in North Bend.

The reception at Boxley’s, 101 W. North Bend Way, will feature upcoming jazz stars from the Valley.
