Snoqualmie optometrist earns national honor

Bad eyes gave Brian Duvall a vision and a mission.
When he was a child, the Snoqualmie optometrist had to undergo several surgeries to his eyes. The time spent at the doctor’s office piqued an interest in the field.
“I became curious as to why people do what they do,” said Duvall, who has been a doctor of optometry for 16 years and since last week, a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry.

Every day at 4 a.m. for a few days in March, people began lining up outside the Lake Amatitlan clinic in Guatemala to get a second chance at sight.
The people came to see Brian Duvall, clinic director of Snoqualmie Valley Eyecare, and his wife, Latreash, an optician. The North Bend couple worked long hours in mid-March. Sometimes it seemed like the line would never end.
