Celebrate King County Parks’ 75th Anniversary with a volunteer work party July 20

Posted on July 1, 2013March 7, 2025 by Staff

As part of its 75th Anniversary commemoration, King County Parks is having a birthday party and invites community members to join a volunteer work party July 20 at Tolt-MacDonald Park in Carnation.

“We hope residents from all over the county will join us at Tolt-MacDonald Park – one of the most iconic of our 200 parks, and celebrate 75 years of investing in and protecting our wonderful parks, trails and natural areas here in King County,” Kevin Brown, King County Parks Director, said in a press release.

Volunteers of all ages will spend the morning restoring native habitat and taking care of the park’s backcountry trails.  In the afternoon, the park will be transformed into birthday headquarters as volunteers and community members join King County officials, parks staff, and other community and corporate partners for a picnic and field day, featuring family-friendly games, contests, and prizes and even special 75th anniversary treats.

Volunteer:   8 a.m. registration, 9 a.m. – noon work party.

The party runs from noon to 2 p.m.

Workplaces, community organizations and families are encouraged to volunteer as a group and make it a special day together at the park for the picnic and field day.  To volunteer, contact Laurie Clinton, Volunteer Program Manager, at 206-296-4452 or [email protected].  No registration is necessary for the afternoon field day.
