Snoqualmie City Council endorses ballot levies

Snoqualmie City Council unanimously endorsed King County Rural Library District Proposition 1, and Snoqualmie Valley School District Propositions 1 and 2 at its Jan. 25 meeting. All measures will be on the ballot for the Feb. 9 special election.

The library’s proposition would restore the property tax levy for 2011 to support of King County Library System programs. A homeowner would pay an increase of approximately $32 on a home assessed at $400,000—or 50 cents per $1,000 of assessed value.

The two replacement levies on the ballot include a maintenance and operations levy and a technology levy. The current levies—approved by voters in 2006—expire after 2010, so the upcoming measures would renew local funding for 2011-2014.

Proposition 1 is the maintenance and operations levy, which would provide approximately 18 percent of the district’s general fund and would support day-to-day operations.

Proposition 2 is a four-year technology levy.
